COVID-19 Level four lockdown impacts Pike River Recovery Agency

18 August 2021

At midnight last night the country moved into Level 4 Lockdown after a new community case was recorded in Auckland, which was subsequently confirmed to be the highly contagious Delta variant.

This means the Pike River Recovery Agency is closed, and staff are required to work from home where possible.  The Agency is expecting to be at work as per usual on Monday 23 August, subject to further advice from the Government later this week.

The Agency is operating under the Covid-19 Principal Hazard Management Plan resulting in the mine being placed in “care and maintenance” mode, to remain in a compliant state as per previous level 4 lockdown protocols, with daily monitoring results submitted to the Site Senior Executive (SSE) for review.
