We’re pleased to announce that Karen Hamilton has been appointed as Advisor for Te Kāhui Whakamana Rua Tekau mā Iwa—Pike River Recovery Agency.
Karen has worked in education, community development and government roles, most recently at Community and Public Health in Greymouth.
“Karen was a Grey District Councillor for nine years and was on the Council at the time of the Pike River Mine disaster. Having lived on the Coast for more than 30 years, she will bring extensive networks and knowledge of the community to the Agency,” Agency Chief Executive Dave Gawn says.
Karen’s role will include preparing the weekly reports to the Minister Responsible for Pike River Re-Entry, Andrew Little, assisting with information requests and providing administrative support to the technical team.
She takes up the role today.
