Working in partnership with the Pike River families
Te Kāhui Whakamana Rua Tekau mā Iwa — Pike River Recovery Agency has completed its objectives to safely re-enter and recover the Pike River Mine drift, to give the Pike River families closure, to promote accountability for this tragedy and to help prevent future mining tragedies. The Agency is now preparing to close.
The Agency will be disestablished on 1 July 2022, and this website will be decommissioned on 30 June 2022. As all functions and objectives will have been completed by that time, the website will not be redirected or relocated.
The Department of Conservation is now managing the Pike River Mine site, and is the custodian of the mine records.
MBIE will be completing limited disestablishment activities until 31 December 2022 and will be the custodian of the Agency’s non-mining operations records.
All outstanding supplier invoices should be received at email@example.com by 17 June 2022. No payments will be made after 23 June 2022.
